Description of activity

"Azoty – Adipol S.A." is one of the oldest chemical companies in Poland and has its foundations in a nearly century-old tradition of "Zakłady Azotowe Chorzów" (founded in 1916). The company began its business activity in the oleochemistry sector including: installations for the processing of animal fat, vegetable oils, distilled fatty acids, stearin and glycerol. These substances are both finished products and intermediate products used in numerous applications by businesses from different industries (e.g. production of rubber, plastics and chemicals for the construction sector and for households). It will be the first professional installation for the production of oleochemicals in Poland. The value of the investment is estimated at around PLN 62 m. So far the Company's main product was potassium nitrate (technical grade and fertilizer). The company is also a producer of nitrous oxide used for medical purposes. Moreover it offers more than thirty compounds used in the following areas: fertilizer industry (including fertilizer mixed according own recipes), food chemistry and industrial chemistry. Main products sold by the Company include: fertilizers for fertigation (used in greenhouse cultivation) in amounts ranging from several dozen to several hundred tons per year, including liquid/granular potassium nitrate, monopotassium phosphate, nitric acid, nitromagnesite, magnesium sulphate, magnesium nitrate and potassium chloride. The offer for the food sector includes potassium nitrate (food grade) and other functional food additives, such as ammonium bicarbonate. Products for the industry include, among others, additives for concrete, potassium carbonate, antimony compounds, barium compounds, sodium and many others. The company has its own rolling stock and provides services of renting wagons and transporting products. It also provides distribution services including electricity and drinking water supply. The Company rents part of its premises to approximately 50 "external" production/service businesses that use the company's facilities and areas, roads and railway infrastructure.
