Grzegorz Borowiec was born on 12 March 1963 in Busko - Zdrój.

He graduated from:

• University of Warsaw, Faculty of Management - 2002
• Master of Business Administration - University of Warsaw / University of Illinois - 2002
• National School of Public Administration - 1997
• Gdynia Maritime University, Faculty of Navigation - 1987

He is an appointed civil servant.

In the years 1987 - 1994, he worked as a deck officer for Polish and foreign shipping companies in merchant navy.

He gained professional experience as, among others, Deputy Director of the Office for Gratuitous Distribution of Shares to the Entitled Employees in the Ministry of Treasury in the years 1997 - 1998. The main task of the Office was to prepare and implement the process of gratuitous distribution of shares to the entitled employees of several hundred privatised companies.

In the years 1998 - 2001, he served as the General Director at the Energy Regulatory Office.

From August 2001 to December 2007, he acted as the Director of the Internal Finance Department at the Ministry of Finance. The main tasks of the department included planning and supervising the implementation of the budget of the Ministry of Finance and its subordinate units, including supervising expenditure for construction investments and organisation of public procurement system.

In 1998, he served as a member of the Supervisory Board of WSK "Rzeszów". In the years 2002 - 2008, he was appointed to oversee PKP SKM Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście. Since 2008, he has acted as the representative of the Minister of Treasury in the Supervisory Board of PKN Orlen SA, and since October 2009, in the Supervisory Board of Telewizja Polska SA.

He participated in numerous national and international internships.

He completed numerous courses and trainings, receiving certificates such as Certified Internal Auditor (2005), NATO's security clearance (NATO Secret - 2002), course on institutional and economic reform of the energy sector (Power Sector Reform - USAID, USA - 1999), and a training on project management (PRINCE2 - 2006).

He is fluent in English.

Grzegorz Borowiec was appointed to the position of the General Director of the Ministry of Treasury on 12 December 2007.
