CV
Rafał Baniak (born 12 February 1976). He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and International Relations at the Cracow University of Economics. In the years 2002-2003, he was an adviser to the Minister of Labour and Social Policy. Between 2003 and 2004, he was a counsellor to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Acting Director of the Secretariat of the Deputy Prime Minister, Jerzy Hausner.
From 14 May 2004 to 17 November 2005, he held the office of the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Social Policy. During this period, he served as the Co-President of the Council for Public Benefit Works, and the Deputy President of the Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority. He was also a member of the European Committee of the Council of Ministers. He supervised the work of the following departments: Public Benefit, International Cooperation, Coordination of Social Security Systems, Managing the European Social Fund and Implementing the European Social Fund.
In 2006, he became the Director of the Department of Social Dialogue and Labour Relations at the Polish Confederation of Private Employers "Lewiatan", and then held a position of an adviser to the President and a deputy to the General Director of the Confederation of Polish Employers serving, inter alia, as the Secretary of the Tripartite Commission for Social and Economic Affairs. Member of the Dublin Foundation.
On 17 December 2007, he was appointed the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy. He chaired inter-ministerial teams for foreign investments, for public-private partnership, and for corporate social responsibility. During this period, he represented the government as a member of the Tripartite Commission for Social and Economic Affairs and Joint Commission of Government and Local Government. He was the Co-President of tripartite sectoral teams for social conditions of the steel industry restructuring, for chemical industry, for light industry, and a member of health protection team. At that time, he also held the position of the Vice President of the Council for Promotion of Poland. He supervised the work of such departments as Support Instruments, European Funds, Implementation of Operational Programs, Export Control, Offset, Civil Defence, as well as the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, and the Material Reserves Agency. Member of the Council of the Polish Tourist Organisation.
Interested in economic policy, corporate restructuring, NGO development, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social economy.
On 1 December 2011, he was appointed the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Treasury.
