Description of activity

PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A. is the dominant company of the largest energy capital group in Poland and one of the largest groups in Central and Eastern Europe. PGE Group conducts activity in six major segments: mining and generation, comprising lignite mining, conventional generation of electricity and heat, wholesale trade in electricity, retail sales of electricity, distribution of electricity and renewable energy. Net electricity production of the Group in 2010 amounted to more than 52,7 TWh. Total generating capacity amounts to approx. 12.2 GW. These figures place PGE among the largest players in Central Europe. Last year, PGE Group sold electricity to more than five million customers, both domestic and business. PGE has been selected by Polish government to advise governmental experts with implementation of Polish nuclear energy program. It estimated that the Company would be a leading entity in constructing and exploiting first Polish plants of nuclear energy.
