Description of activity

Enea is an electricity trading company. It is the owner of Poland's largest coal-fired power plant - Elektrownia Kozienice and of Enea Operator - the distribution network which covers approximately 20% of Poland. Enea Operator has an 11.6% market share by volume of electricity distribution. According to data provided by ARE (the Energy Market Agency), Enea and three other domestic energy groups, Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE), Energa and Tauron control 62% of electricity generation and 87% of electricity sales in Poland. The Enea group strategy assumes further investment in the distribution network through modemisation, expansion and improved management. Enea also intends to increase existing capacity and create new production capacity. This is to be achieved through the construction of new electric power units, including one at the Elektrownia Kozienice power plant where, until 2014, Enea plans to build a new power unit with total power output of approx. 1000 MW and by 2023 a power unit with total power output of 720 MW. Enea also intends to invest in renewable energy sources, mostly wind farms located in north-west Poland.
