Description of activity

Azoty – Adipol S.A. is one of Poland’s oldest chemical companies. It was established on the basis of a near 100 year old tradition of Zakłady Azotowe (Nitrogen Works) in Chorzów (established in 1916).
The Company is a manufacturer of Potassium nitrate of the following grades: industrial and fertilizer. Sales of Potassium nitrate covers more than 30% domestic demand for this chemical. Also, the Company is a manufacturer of Nitrous oxide used for medical purposes. Moreover the Company sells more than thirty chemicals in three areas: fertilizer – including proprietary fertilizer mixtures, food chemistry and industrial chemistry. The essential merchantable goods sold by the Company are: fertigation fertilizers (for indoor crops) in quantities ranging from several dozen up to several hundred tons/ year, including fluid, and granular Calcium nitrate, Monobasic potassium phosphate, Nitric acid, Magnesium nitrate, Magnesium sulphate, Magnesium nitrate and Potassium chloride. A proposal dedicated to the food industry includes food Potassium nitrate and other functional food additives, e.g. Acidic ammonium carbonate. Industrial sale includes e.g. concrete additives, potassium carbonate, antimony compounds, barium compounds and many others.
The Company has its own rolling stock to provide car rental and freight transport services. Also, it is a utility supplier of: electrical energy and potable water. Facilities of Azoty - Adipol S.A. are used as a manufacturing and service business basis for ca. 50 “external” companies which lease either items of Company’s assets or floor space as well as utilize its road and railway infrastructure.
Over the coming years the Company intends to safeguard streamline manufacturing operations, develop a business associated with selling merchantable goods and launching new production capacities on the basis of new manufacturing projects. Azoty – Adipol S.A. has a number of strengths that are useful for company development. These are e.g.: many years’ presence on the chemical product market, highly qualified managing staff, advantageous location of the site in terms of communication, good environmental protection status in particular protection of waters, clear title of ownership, considerable resources of developed areas that may be utilized for investment projects, sound financial standing and creditworthiness.
In the near future the Company intends to start an investment project in the oloechemical sector. It has obtained a license from Ministry of the Treasury for launching a plant for processing animal grease and plant oil into distillated fatty acids, glyceryl tristearate and glycerol that are merchantable goods and at the same time are used as semi products for many applications, e.g. in rubber industry, for construction and household chemicals. It’s going to be Poland’s first professional oleochemical manufacturing plant. The value of this project is expected to reach ca. PLN million 61.1.
