Description of activity

Elektrownia Chorzów is engaged mainly in the supply and sale of electrical energy and heat supply. In addition, the Company operates in the field of water supply and sewage disposal and transport, and also produces and sells technological media for the needs of the local market. Elektrownia is also engaged in the construction and operation of ecological coal-fired boiler rooms and operates a fuel storage facility. In addition, it rents office, welfare, production and storage spaces and provides various kinds of services: laboratory, repair, mechanical and electrical, building and construction. The Company operates in the Upper Silesia Agglomeration – in Katowice and Chorzów. In order to fulfil its objectives it has highly qualified technical personnel holding supervision and operation licences to enable works in the full voltage range. The main customers of the Company include consumers of electrical and heat energy produced by Elektrownia. The Company’s main strategic objectives include development of electrical energy and heat distribution networks by winning new contractors and modernising its own infrastructure with the aim to reduce operational costs and to improve the market position of Elektrownia. The Company also plans to develop services in the field of production of fuel mixtures based on hard coal and to diversify its activity by taking over business entities and taking advantage of synergy effect. In the market environment of Elektrownia Chorzów there are also other entities, such as Vattenfall, Tauron, Centrozap in the field of power supply and Przedsiębiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej in Katowice and Bytom as well as local boiler plants in the field of heat supply. Nevertheless, newly established commercial, office and service centres in the Upper Silesia Agglomeration offer the Company new business opportunities. Other opportunities for the growth of heat supply market include take-overs and modernisation of the existing local boiler plants or connecting new consumers to remote active heat sources, e.g. in co-operation with heat energy producers.
