Bank Polskiej Spółdzielczości S.A. seated in Warsaw - privatised company

Description of activity

Bank Polskiej Spółdzielczości (BPS) was established in March 2002 through a merger of Gospodarczy Bank Południowo-Zachodni SA and five other banks: Bank Unii Gospodarczej SA, Lubelski Bank Regionalny SA, Małopolski Bank Regionalny SA, Rzeszowski Bank Regionalny SA and Warmińsko-Mazurski Bank Regionalny SA. The Bank’s balance sheet total is PLN 12.5 billion (as at 31 December 2009). The Bank has 80 branches all over Poland.
The Bank’s main clients are small and medium-sized companies, territorial self-government bodies and retail clients. The BPS group operates nationwide, however it believes that one of its main tasks is to support regional and local development. The Bank’s product and price policy is adapted to the economic diversity of individual regions. The BPS group specialises in servicing agriculture and its surroundings and supports Polish farmers in their adaptation to EU standards. An essential element of the Bank’s strategy is to support the creation and development of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship. The Bank combines traditional ideas of cooperative movement with modernity by offering farmers and companies both traditional and modern bank products (e.g. electronic banking and international MasterCard and VISA cards).
Cooperative banks associated with Bank Polskiej Spółdzielczości constitute about 60 percent of all cooperative banks in Poland. They all consistently increase their share in the market of financial services while retaining autonomous operations and cooperative identity, thereby implementing its mission to contribute to the development of their members and clients.
