Description of activity

The company conducts business activity in scope of regulation of rivers and channels, construction of water engineering facilities, flood protection and icebreaking. The company also executes dredging and silting works and provides services with respect to inland water transport and construction of small hydroelectric power stations, water treatment plants and waste landfills. The main customers of the company are state institutions. The services provided to the Maritime Office in Gdynia and the Regional Water Management Authority in Gdańsk generate ca 70% of the company’s revenue. The remaining 30% comes from companies and private individuals. The company operates only in Poland and has a strong position in the local market. The company is among 5 Polish companies with the highest shares in dredging and silting works in northern Poland. The company has its own vessels, i.e. river icebreakers, trailing suction hopper dredger, pushers, tugboats, house-boats, barges and dinghies. The company also owns diggers, various motor vehicles and a crane. The goal of the company’s development strategy is to focus on dredging and silting works, excavation of aggregate and equipment services in water transport in the territory of northern Poland. The company’s investment plans are to modernise the existing fleet (in order to maintain its proper technical condition) and replacement of land equipment and cars with more modern and mobile ones in order to perform hydro engineering works. The market on which the company operates develops thanks to investments co-financed under EU funds. Additionally, outlays on regulation of the Vistula River and other watercourses are expected to grow. Also, the opportunities to acquire by the company revenues from extraction of aggregate (for road and infrastructure investments) increased significantly.

Planned privatisation

The Treasury owns 100% of the company’s share capital. The Treasury pans to sell 85% of its stake and transfer the remaining 15% to company employees. The possible schedule and privatisation procedure to be adopted in the project are now being analyzed.
