Company Profile
Polskie Ratownictwo Okrętowe seated in Gdynia (state-owned enterprise)
Description of activity
Polskie Ratownictwo Okrętowe (PRO) is an enterprise rendering maritime services. The PRO’s scope of activity includes mainly sea and ocean towing services as well as transshipment of heavy lifts. Additionally, PRO offers offshore services (operation of oil platforms) crewing (supplying crews to other shipowners) and agency services. Consistent development of commercial activity enabled PRO to consolidate its position and brand in towing and crane service markets. Market factors seem favourable for PRO. The demand for services related to towing new hulls is stable and is expected to grow. Similarly, services in the scope of towing and operation of barges with project type cargoes are likely to develop. The Company conducts its activities on the market related to operation of oil platforms. In upcoming years, the enterprise is expecting growth on the market for operation of fuel terminals as well as increase in demand for services related to towing other vessels and crane services. PRO’s worldwide market share accounts for less than 1%. Nevertheless, due to long-standing contracts, knowledge of market needs, experience and high quality of its services, the enterprise is successful and is gradually entering more demanding markets. PRO is one of the leaders in crane services. In the Polish crane market, PRO offers the largest lifting capacity. It is also the sole owner of a rotary arm and therefore the enterprise for many years has been able to compete with other entities and retain the position of a market leader. The key customers of PRO are oil companies, shipyards, engineering companies, shipping companies, transportation companies, and shipowners. The company’s goal is to provide top services, ensuring high quality and safety. The company’s everyday priority is to maintain all equipment in good technical condition. Since 2007, the company has been carrying out an investment plan whose goal is to successively exchange the existing ships for modern ships (new or allowing their use for another fifteen years or so). In November 2007, a used tugboat AGAT was purchased and in February 2008 a new AMBER II tugboat was collected.
