IASE's competitors can be divided into two groups. The first group comprises world's large concerns, which for many years have been specialized in the production of power systems, e.g. Siemens, Honeywell, ABB, Emmerson Process Management, Alstom and other. The second group comprises small domestic companies such as those established by the former employees of IASE, Energoster and EPCON, which offer some of the similar products, and other companies emerging on the power market as a result of restructuring of maintenance, electrical and automation departments of other companies, as well as small businesses operating in the power sector. Until September 30, 2007, IASE operated as a state enterprise; as of October 1, 2007 it began its activity as a sole-shareholder company of the Treasury.
