Company Profile
Przedsiębiorstwo Budownictwa Elektroenergetycznego ELBUD Gdańsk S.A. seated in Sopot - privatised company
Description of activity
Business activity of PBE ELBUD GDANSK SA is based on two main pillars: the first one being construction services for the telecommunication, electrical power engineering, and general construction sectors, and the second one being the production and sale of concrete poles, prefabricated foundations and other reinforced concrete products for the electrical power engineering, telecommunication, and general construction sectors. The Company manufactures and sells structural components for the power engineering and telecommunication sectors (e.g. spun poles used for the construction of power lines, LV and MV lines as well as lamp posts, prefabricated foundations used for erecting pylons and lattice towers). Also, Elbud is involved in the construction of wind farms. Shares of individual business areas in company’s sales are as follows: Production Plant of Reinforced Concrete Prefabricated Products – generates 20% of sales revenues, the construction service division – 55% and the telecommunication service division – 8% of sales revenues. The Company has a significant market position in the sector of production and sales of structural components for the power engineering, telecommunication and general construction sectors. The Company holds ca. a 30-40% share in this market. There are 5 companies specialised in the manufacture of spun poles, Elbud’s share is ca. 10%. In the case of foundations – there are three companies in Poland specialising in their manufacture and Elbud’s share according to company’s estimates is ca. 40%. Also, Elbus is one of key Polish manufacturers capable of building wind farms – it holds a 8-10% market share. Additionally the Company runs a number of projects for mobile operators (ca. a 0.5 – 1.5% market share), as well as for the power engineering construction sector (ca. a 0.4 – 1% market share). Among major customers of the Company are power distribution companies, wholesalers which sell components manufactured by Elbud as well as direct contractors of the construction and power engineering works, other investors and mobile operators. Due to growing interest in the low-output wind power plants (built to cover demands of households and small plants) the Company intends to discover the prospects for building such plants in Poland. Investment plans associated with this business area include the purchase of machinery necessary for successful performance of such works e.g. excavators, tipper trucks, cranes, road rollers etc. An opportunity for the dynamic growth of the power engineering construction service sector should be the announced amendment to the Energy Law as well as the implementation of EC regulations concerning carbon dioxide emission. Also, market development is closely related to investments plans in power sector infrastructure as well as development of renewable energy. The Company operates also as a mobile infrastructure contractor.
