Description of activity
The Company is the only large diversified design agency in the Polish hard coal mining sector. It provides services such as preparation of comprehensive design and cost estimate documentation for construction, reconstruction and expansion of mining companies, associated investment and investment in utilities. The company executed construction designs of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, an Olympic-size swimming pool in Jaworzno, single-family housing estates, a church, roads and rail networks as well as waste-water and electrical infrastructure projects. The main clients include hard coal mines, coal companies and establishments associated with the mining industry located in the southern provinces of Poland. Complementary services provided by the company include reprographic services and preparation of documentation to obtain financing from EU funds. In addition, the company rents out office space within its business premises (an office block with a usable area of over 18,000 m2, located in the centre of Katowice, at Pl. Grunwaldzki). It rents out office space for dozens of institutions and enterprises. A paid, monitored car park is situated next to the building. The company's strategic objective is to strengthen its position in the market of design services for the mining industry. Plans to launch new new wells or mines are an opportunity to win new contracts. Moreover, the company intends to renovate and upgrade its office building and car park. Ongoing efforts are aimed at improving the company's profitability.

Planned privatisation
The Treasury holds 100% of the Company's shares. The Ministry intends to sell 85% of the Company's shares, while the remaining stake of 15% of shares will be transferred to eligible employees. In the auction, which took place on 23.08.2011, the Management Board sold the organised portion of the company (design office), and on 05.10.2011, the Extraordinary General Meeting amended the company's statute, inter alia, by changing the company name to Centrum Biurowe Plac Grunwaldzki S.A. (pending registration).
