Description of activity

The company provides services in the scope of waste-water disposal and land reclamation works on waste storage yards and in areas degraded by the industry. The company specializes in the treatment and release of salinated waste water from mines to the rivers. At present, the company releases waste water from eight operating mines using the so-called “Olza” system. The system consists of 85 kilometres of pipelines, 9 pumping stations, 3 river salinity monitoring stations and 3 pipeline pressure and water flow monitoring stations.
The company also supplies coal mines and energy companies from the Śląskie Province with industrial water. Also included in the scope of the Company’s activities is the reclamation of lands degraded by the industry. As for the land reclamation, the Company is distinguished by the application of FRISOL® (soilless land reclamation and revitalisation method), thanks to cooperation with a German enterprise. The company has more than 20 years of experience in land reclamation works. Most of the lands reclaimed by the company are reforested surfaces of spoil banks.
The most important clients of PGWiR S.A. are coal mines of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. and Kompania Węglowa S.A. as well as heat and power stations from the Śląskie Province.
