Ljubljana Seminar on the Privatisation Programme 2008-2011
On 8 December 2009, a seminar was held in Ljubljana on the opportunities for investing in Polish state-owned companies covered by the Privatisation Programme 2008-2011. The seminar was intended for potential investors from Slovenia, particularly for entrepreneurs already cooperating with Poland, entrepreneurs investing abroad, and entrepreneurs interested in investing on the Polish market.
The seminar participants included: Mr. Piotr Kaszuba – Ambassador to Poland in Ljubljana, Ms. Andreja Jaklic of the University of Ljubljana, Mr. Wojciech Chmielewski – Deputy Head of the Department of Ownership Supervision and Privatisation III at the Ministry of Treasury, Mr. Marco Dolzan – CEO of Polfa Łódź, and Ms. Agnieszka Lubieńska – Department Head at the Social Communications Office in the Ministry of Treasury.
Ambassador Piotr Kaszuba presented key data on Polish economy. He emphasised that despite the global economic crisis, Poland has been recording a positive GDP and is therefore an attractive investment location. Ms. Andreja Jaklic talked about issues related to globalisation of Slovenian companies and the associated barriers and challenges for Slovenian investors. Mr. Marco Dolzan, representative of Slovenian investments in Poland, shared his experiences in the field of building business relations between Poland and Slovenia. Such relations have already led to, among others, the acquisition of the company Polfa Łódź by the Polish Slovenian company Sensilab in 2008, and today Polfa Łódź is the exclusive manufacturer of certain drug products for the Slovenian market.
Mr. Wojciech Chmielewski, representative of the Ministry of Treasury, presented to Slovenian investors various opportunities regarding capital investments in the key sectors of the Polish economy currently covered by privatisation. He also discussed the key privatisation projects under the 4-year Privatisation Programme. Ms. Agnieszka Lubieńska presented the tasks of the Investor Relations Centre opened in July 2009 at the Ministry of Treasury. The Centre’s main goal is to provide potential investors with information on current privatisation projects.
The seminar was organised by the Polish Embassy in Slovenia.
The seminar in Ljubljana was held as part of the strategy of the Ministry of Treasury to actively promote the objectives of the Privatisation Programme 2009-2011 among potential foreign investors.
