Held on 2 December 2009 was an Extraordinary Meeting of Shareholders of PZU S.A. Two decisions taken during the meeting are of paramount importance to PZU S.A – Central and Eastern Europe’s largest insurer. The first decision concerns a formal initiation

On 3 December 2009, the Minister of Treasury, Mr. Aleksander Grad, will commence his visit to the United States. During the meetings, the Minister will be encouraging American investors to participate in the privatisation of state-owned companies.

The nature of Mr. Grad’s visit, that is to be completed on 11 December, is that of an investor roadshow involving a number of meetings with the US largest investment companies, which may show interest in the Polish privatisation offer.
All-day long series of meetings with the world’s largest investment funds investing in the international assets portfolios and the emerging markets have been arranged for each day of the Minister’s stay in New York, Boston and San Francisco. During his eight-day visit, Mr. Grad will meet key representatives of approximately 50 funds. Each of these funds manages assets worth several billion dollars, and five of them are ranked among the top 10 investment companies of this type. In Washington, Minister Grad will meet Ms. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, one of the three Vice-Presidents of the World Bank.

The Privatisation Plan is presented to potential investors during individual and group meetings that are organised on a regular basis at the Ministry of Treasury and during international visits paid by the Ministry’s highest officials. A number of meetings has been held at the Ministry of Treasury, including the meetings with representatives of Open Pension Funds and Private Equity funds. Since 2008, the Ministry of Treasury has been organising the so-called roadshows for investors. To date, the Minister has met investors from London, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Japan and Singapore.
Since he began his term, Minister Grad has always had an active approach towards the seeking of investors. This approach proved crucial in the context of the international financial markets crisis. Besides the roadshows for investors seated in specific parts of the world and the meetings with Commercial Chambers operating in Poland, the Ministry of Treasury has come up with a number of initiatives to help all potential investors obtain the information about the privatisation projects of the Ministry of Treasury. A dedicated online website has been in operation since 2008 (http://inwestor.msp.gov.pl), while July 2009 saw the opening of the Investor Relations Centre, a facility designated to provide information on specific privatisation processes and facilitate the contact between investors and Ministry representatives responsible for respective projects.
