Opening of Nafta Polska S.A.’s liquidation proceedings

As previously announced by Minister Aleksander Grad, Nafta Polska S.A. – which supervises companies from the fuel and the chemical sector – was put into liquidation. The proceedings commenced on 1 January 2010.

The Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders passed a resolution on commencing the liquidation proceedings of the company. Additionally, Mr Wiesław Skwarko, former member of the Management Board, was appointed as the liquidator. Other members of the Management Board announced their resignations.
Putting Nafta Polska S.A. into liquidation is directly related to the achievement of its strategic goals, which included the completion of the advanced process of privatising the 1st Chemical Group and the transfer to the Treasury of the shares held by Nafta Polska S.A. in PKN Orlen S.A., Grupa Lotos S.A. (22 July 2009) and Operator Logistyczny Paliw Płynnych Sp. z o.o. (30 December 2008). The process of privatizing the 2nd Chemical Group will be administered by the Ministry of Treasury.

The Treasury is the founder and the sole owner of Nafta Polska S.A. The company’s main task was to complete the government programs of restructuring and privatization of the Great Chemical Synthesis sector and the oil sector adopted by the Council of Ministers on 12 November 2003.
