The PZU public offering was a record event at the European scale. It was the biggest ever public offering in the East-Central Europe, the biggest in Europe since 2007 and the biggest in the insurance sector in 5 years. The offering value amounted to PLN 8.1 billion.

New and ground-breaking solutions were offered to the individual investors, eliminating the need to take out loans to be able to afford to pay for shares and avoid reduction of subscription. Application of new solutions allowed for attracting more than 250 thousand investors who subscribed for more than 7 million shares, i.e. 28 per cent of the value of the offering, and opened ca. 140 thousand new securities accounts. Institutions from three continents, including pension funds and sovereign and university funds participated in the book-building. Popularity of the offer was confirmed by the fact that the demand for the company’s shares from institutional investors was more than nine times higher than the shares supply.

The success of the PZU public offering among individual investors is a confirmation of the triumph of the citizen shareholding concept implemented by the Ministry of Treasury which aims to convince Poles to actively participate in the ownership transformations. The public offering of PZU attracted another hundreds of thousands of new shareholders – ordinary citizens.
