The Company operates in the following areas: manufacture of woodworking machines, cast iron and light metal casting, research and development works in the field of engineering sciences, technical testing and analyses, generation and distribution of heat (steam and hot water). The Company manufactures investment goods. It specialises in the field of: manufacture of woodworking machines and machines for wood-based materials (e.g. sliding table saws for cutting of timber, particle boards and veneered boards including MDF and HDF boards, wood core plywood, fibreboards, multi-saw sawing machines for slitting planks into boards etc.) as well as in the manufacture of cast iron (grey, alloy and ductile). The Iron Foundry Plant supplies semi-finished products to cover the needs of other Company plants and also sells short-run semi-finished products to external customers to individual orders. Customers of finished products include essentially small and medium enterprises, with employment of 1-300 persons, engaged in the production of furniture, and sawmills. A small portion of the product range is designed for individual customers (small circular saws, combined woodworking machines). The Company purchases input materials both at home and abroad. The essential suppliers include steel suppliers (plates and barstock), electrical motors, electrical equipment, aluminium profiles, crude iron and antifriction bearings. The Company sells its products directly to final customers, as well as through dealer network with premises located throughout the country. Also, the Company has dealers in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. Major dealers have showrooms to exhibit Company’s products. The Company plans to concentrate its operations on the existing target market segments i.e.: woodworking machine customers, buyers of small and medium sized grey iron castings as well as industrial services customers. The Company has been in business for more than 45 years. The “REMA” brand is commonly known on the market and the company has been recognised as a specialist in its field. On the basis of market position achieved so far and based on technical and intellectual capacities (own design department) the Company has adopted the strategy of market penetration and technological expansion. While remaining its operations on the industry of specialisation the Company will strive to increase its market shares on target markets. In line with these assumptions of the development strategy, investment plans are targeted to increase its manufacturing capacities and renew its tangible infrastructure. The market on which the Company operates is highly oversupplied, with players of varying profiles. The essential competitors include large foreign companies such as: Felder - Austria, Altendorf - Germany, SCM - Italy. Among minor competitors worth mentioning are the following domestic players: Jaroma, Gomad, Bez; and foreign: Robland, Kusing, Rojek, Martin, Paoloni, Griggio, and also Chinese manufacturers which sell locally-branded products.

The State Treasury holds 100% of company’s shares. Ministry of Treasury is planning to sell 85% of the company shares while 15% will be transferred to employees. March 30, 2012 the Ministry of Treasury published a call for public tender to purchase the shares of the company. The deadline for submitting offers expires on May 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Warsaw time.
